Tehran, June 7 (MRUD NEWS)—4.5 million tons freights containing basic goods have been transported from Iranian ports and distributed through more than 181000 trips during the period of March 21 till June 14, 2022, according to the transport deputy at Iran’s Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO).
Accelerated provision of basic goods has been on top priority in the country to the extent that currently 58000 tons of basic goods are being transported by 2400 trucks per day. This is done by RMTO and Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) and in full cooperation with the related organizations and transport companies.
Among the ports, Imam Khomeini Port with 112000 truck trips and 2.8 million tons loading ranks first. It has a total share of 62 percent.
After Imam Khomeini, Shaheed Rajaee, Chabahar, Amirabad, Anzali, Noshahr, Freidoon Kenar, and Bushehr Ports respectively stand second to seventh with 787000, 441000, 246000, 151000, 44000, 32000, 11000 tons freights transported.
Last year (during March 2021 to February 2022), 140 million tons freight were transported through Iran's ports while the commercial port throughput had been 266.3 million tons.
The figure in the road sector was 458 million tons freight transport and 8 million tons road transit in the same period.
